Trina Solar sets up shop in East Africa through partnership with Solinc

Leading global provider of end-to-end solutions for photovoltaic and smart energy solutions, Trina Solar Ltd., will establish a presence in East Africa through a new partnership with Kenyan based solar module manufacturer, Solinc East Africa Ltd. 

Under the partnership, Solinc East Africa Ltd. will be the sole distributor for Trina Solar’s solar technology solutions and products in the East Africa region.

The deal reinforces Trina Solar’s intentions to expand its presence in the African continent to meet the growing demand for solar energy products. 

“The Middle East and North Africa region is witnessing a boom in renewable energy. Trina Solar plans to capture a large share of this growing solar market,” said Antonio Jimenez, Managing Director and Vice President of Trina Solar for the Middle East and Africa.

Solinc East Africa Limited was established in 2009. The company operates the first and only solar panel manufacturing plant in the East African region. As a major supplier of photovoltaic products in East Africa, the company has an annual distribution capacity of more than 15 MW.

“We are fully prepared to meet the growing demand for high quality PV modules and associated equipment backed by our proven track record in the solar energy sector in East Africa,” said Edward Ritchie, the General Manager of Solinc East Africa Limited.
