Tapping the enormous potential for renewables in African mines is the key focus of the Energy and Mines Africa Virtual Summit taking place May 4-6 online.
The last 18 months have witnessed a significant increase in the number of announcements of energy projects for mines. There is also a growing realization amongst the continent’s miners, regulators, governments, and financiers that an energy shift is an inevitable result of growing domestic and international pressure to decarbonize mining, contain costs and improve energy security. See this article about the latest projects.
Confirmed to participate in the event are over 120 mines. They will be joined by 200+ renewables, energy storage, and traditional mine energy providers for three days of project benchmarking and discussion. The event is being hosted by Energy and Mines, the international media and events company dedicated to alternative energy in mining. Sponsors of the event include juwi, Suntrace, Vivo Energy, Aggreko, Exxaro, DRA, The Government of Canada, 247Solar, Total Eren, Enel Green Power, Solarcentury Africa, Scatec, Azelio, JA Solar, Heliogen, Fulcrum3D, Engie Impact and AB Mining
The event comprises six content pods:
– The business case for renewables for mines
– High-level energy strategies – CEOs and energy experts
