1) BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE: ENERGY FIRST LIMITED (EFL) – ZIMBABWE

Closing date: 16 February 2022

Energy First Limited (EFL), a UK headquartered energy infrastructure developer and renewable energy solutions provider, seeks to hire a Business Development Associate. EFL has regional offices in six African countries: Benin Republic, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This opportunity is for the Zimbabwean office.

The Business Development Associate will be expected to secure new and profitable ventures for the Company as well as leveraging on existing businesses to increase sales and revenue. It also requires networking and active engagement of staff, client, service providers and stakeholder’s relationship management

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Build key customer relationships, regularly maintain, and sustain business relationships for both new & old, negotiate and cause the execution of profitable business deals. Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions globally.
  • Strengthening and implementing weekly internal communications and marketing within the company.
  • Provide protocols and executive assistant duties to the management and board of the company.
  • You shall represent the company and or join in meetings in various locations when required.
  • Adherence to company’s Corporate Governance.
  • Bi-monthly reporting of all activities being carried out by you to your reporting line.
  • Monthly business performance appraisal reporting inclusive of the key performance indicators.
  • Other roles as assigned by the Country Manager.

2) COMMERCIAL MANAGER –RENEWABLES: ENERGY FIRST LIMITED – ZIMBABWE

Energy First Limited (EFL), a UK headquartered energy infrastructure developer and renewable energy solutions provider, is looking for a Commercial Manger – Renewables. EFL has regional offices in six African countries: Benin Republic, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This opportunity is for the Zimbabwean office.

The Commercial Managerial role working with the Managing Director (MD) will ensure a planned, consistent, and integrated commercial approach to our newly found solar and gas business strategy by ensuring that a broader company network is maintained within the energy sector.

The Commercial Manager will also drive revenue expansion, investment drive, expediting external leads and work with the MD in designing & implementing business strategies.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (retail products, expansion, business development etc.)
  • Tariff modelling and development across the value chain of solar and solar hybrid plants. Scenario planning involving sensitivity analysis of various business model based on capacity, costs, revenue, and regulations. Model tax, equity, and debt to optimise capital structure.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer service etc.) and monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Develop a good understanding of the company’s client network and opportunities to use unique insights and experience to build commercial strategies leading to business leads.
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring.
  • Monitoring of the solar and other renewable project developments in various locations in Africa.
  • Work with Project Development lead, to develop financial engineering solutions which includes leveraging on operational ongoing projects and the newly built projects to independently arrive at viable funding solutions.
  • Projects and business implementation & operations monitoring with bi-monthly reporting to top management of the company.
  • Assist in the definition of EFL projects scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
  • Broker and maintain excellent relationships with regional businesses, investors, sector specialist, and all associated energy focused entities.
  • Represent the company as required at key client meetings, both internally and externally with other stakeholders.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • BSc/BA in business administration, finance or relevant field.
  • MSc/MA is a plus.

Experience

  • Previous experience working on solar projects in a leadership capacity is imperative.
  • Prior renewable energy industry experience, particularly solar or solar + storage, preferred.
  • A track-record having managed similar projects from early-stage development through to completion and operations is necessary.
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients.
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset.

3) SOLAR TECHNICIAN: ENERGY FIRST LIMITED – ZIMBABWE

Energy First Limited (EFL), a UK headquartered energy infrastructure developer and renewable energy solutions provider, seeks to hire a Solar Technician. EFL has regional offices in six African countries: Benin Republic, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This opportunity is for the Zimbabwean office.

The Solar Technician will be responsible for managing all technical correspondence on solar projects in Zimbabwe. He/she will work closely with the Technical Services and Client Services departments in managing project sites and supporting engineering operations in Zimbabwe.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conducting energy audits and assessing locations to ensure they are suitable for solar panels. Performing site visits on new project opportunities to determine the available site power, and utility/facility constraints, collect information regarding construction permits, evaluate potential site support contractors, and assist with preparation of cost estimates. Measuring up areas for installation.
  • Designing a solar panel system based on customer needs and structural conditions and develop the system BOQ under the supervision of the EFL Renewable Engineering Manager. Developing point-point wiring diagrams and select components for company-built control panels.
  • Installing and maintaining solar panels on homes, business premises or open land. Grounding electrical equipment and checking wiring. Assembling and installing the racking, panels, and electrical equipment in compliance with the acceptable engineering standards.
  • Ensuring that standard operation procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work are adhered to. Performing system maintenance checks, troubleshooting and fault rectification.
  • Communicating information from the client services to the field engineers and vice versa. Responding to customer complaints by informing field engineers and following up with operations and maintenance schedules on designated sites.
  • Preparing energy audit and efficiency reports in a timely and efficient manner. Monitoring various projects and ensuring effective performance of engineering processes and performing tests on same. Providing technical support for the engineering processes.
