LONGi unveils new solar modules developed for African conditions

The company says its recently launched innovations are designed to address the continent’s real-world challenges.

Leading solar technology manufacturer, LONGi, last week unveiled its latest solar innovations tailored for African market conditions, and signed multiple strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) totaling 1.3 GW at the Solar and Storage Live Africa Event in South Africa

The company says its recently launched innovations are designed to address the continent’s real-world challenges, while continuing to set new benchmarks in solar performance.

A key highlight was the launch of the Hi-MO 9 Hydroclear module, which LONGi highlighted is developed for high-dust environments. Dust accumulation remains a major constraint on solar plant efficiency across many parts of Africa, increasing maintenance requirements and reducing energy yield.

The Hi-MO 9 Hydroclear module integrates LONGi’s Ultra Anti-Dust Technology which significantly reduces soiling losses and enhances long-term system reliability, offering a practical response to local operating conditions.

At the launching ceremony themed “Built for Africa | Engineered for Extremes,” LONGI debuted its S10 Ultimate Power Module which delivers up to 685W output and 25.4% efficiency.

“As Africa’s energy demand continues to grow, the need for efficient, reliable, and locally adaptable solutions becomes increasingly critical,” said Ye Xiaohan, President of LONGi Africa Region.

“Through continuous innovation and strong partnerships, LONGi is committed to supporting Africa’s sustainable energy future and delivering long-term value to our customers,” added  Xiaohan.

Signing for MOUs totaling 1.3GW by LONGi and its partners

Alongside the launch of these technologies, LONGI signed a multiple MOUs totaling 1.3 GW with key partners represents a major step forward in project development across the region. The company said the agreements reflect strong market confidence in its solar solutions and are expected to accelerate deployment on a scale, supporting Africa’s growing demand for reliable and sustainable energy.
